What is proof of passing Driver’s Education?
Students who successfully pass the class should receive a DEC 1 form, also known as a “Green Card” from their teacher if the class was completed in a public school. This shows that the 36 hours has been completed successfully. If taken at a private school or online for homeschoolers, the appropriate certificate will be issued upon passing the class and must be presented to start Behind the Wheel.
Is the 45 hours with a parent/guardian required to be completed before starting Behind the Wheel?
Students do not have to have the 45 hours completed prior to behind the wheel if taken at a private driving school. Our certified instructors will give the road test to students. Students 17 yrs and younger will be given a temporary license (DTS-B). The license is good for 6 months. The student is eligible to drive after holding the learners permit for 9-months and the license will be dated with the day the student can drive on their own. A letter from court will arrive approximately 2 months after the eligibility date and a parent/guardian will accompany the student to court for a licensing ceremony where the hard copy of their license will be given to the student by the judge.
*If taking BTW at 18 yrs. or older the student will be issued a waiver of road test form (after passing road test) and will need to present the certificate to the DMV and the hard copy will follow in the mail.
